This nectar is a blend of Negroamaro (80%), Primitivo (20%) from vineyards located in the area of Leverano, near Lecce. The grapes are handpicked and then they are passed through a de-stemmer (no crushing). The must is left to soak in contact with the skins in steel vats for 6-7 days at a controlled temperature of 24-26°. After the fermentation process the divine juice ages 10-12 months in French barriques and at least 3 months in bottles. Salute!

Appearance

The wine has a lively ruby color. The intensity is medium.

Nose

The aroma intensity is medium plus. Immediately notes of ripe per plum, red cherry and sour cherry come out from the glass, followed by hints of spices, homemade jam, and flowers. The secondary aromas include vanilla, cloves, cedar, but also toast and smoke. The tertiaries remember the dried cranberry, meat and fine leather.

Palate

In the mouth, the wine is dry with medium high level of acidity. The tannins are medium, while the alcohol is high (i.e. 14 %). On the palate, it is an explosion of red fruits, spices, including the black pepper. The secondary aromas such vanilla, cloves, and charred wood enrich the aromatic bouquet making it quite vibrant. The flavor intensity is pronounced and the lasting is long.

Conclusion

Another gem produced by this winery in the hearth of Salento. The nectar is an elegant blend of Negroamaro and Primitivo, characterized by vibrant hints of ripe red fruits, especially sour cherry, and spices. The notes of cedar, flowers and charred wood make the aromatic bouquet more graceful and refined. The vintage 2005 was something exceptional.
