This nectar is a blend of red grapes typical of Salento from vineyards planted more than 50 years ago. The slightly overripe grapes are manually harvested in September. The malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, and then the divine juice ages for 12 months in French oak barrique. Salute!
The wine has a ruby color with purple shades. The intensity is deep.
The aroma intensity is pronounced. The nostrils are bewitched by rich fragrances of ripe red cherry, sour cherry and plum, followed by hints licorice and jam. The secondaries remember spices as the vanilla, cloves, cinnamon and a fine cedar, but also a touch of toast.
In the mouth, the wine is dry with medium level of acidity and medium tannins. The alcohol is high (i.e. 14,5 %), but well tamed. On the palate, the wine is an explosion of ripe red fruits. The secondaries enrich the aromatic palette with hints of vanilla, cloves, chocolate perfectly balanced by a note of charred wood. The intensity is pronounced and the lasting long.
A really well made non-vintage blend full of ripe red fruits and spices. It is opulent at the nose and warm on the palate. The aromatic palette is quite complex, despite the tertiary aromas are negligible. The flavors have intensity and are well combined, but they lack of evolution. Overall, this nectar is always a pleasant drink to reinvigorate ourselves when we are in charge of the BBQ.
