Lirica 2016 (in Jeroboam)
This nectar is a 100% Primitivo from 15-20 years old vineyards. The harvest takes place at the beginning of September. The grapes macerate for a week and the fermentation has accomplished at 25°C. Then the divine juice age for at least six months in large casks of Slavonian oak. Salute!
The wine has a ruby color. The intensity is medium to deep.
The aroma intensity is pronounced. Immediately intense hints of blackcurrant and black cherry come out from the glass, enriched by notes of bramble, licorice, black pepper and scents of violet. The secondary aromas remember the vanilla, cinnamon and a light charred wood. The tertiaries include dry fruits and meat.
In the mouth, the wine is dry with medium high level of acidity. The alcohol is high, i.e. 14.5% but well tamed, while the tannins are surprisingly and pleasantly vigorous (medium plus). On the palate, the intensity is pronounced. The flavors are so concentrated that it seems to drink black fruits juice with a lot of spices. The secondary aromas are more buoyant, with a particular vibrant notes of charred wood and toast.
This Primitivo combines the opulence of black fruits and spices with the more austere notes of charred wood and toast. The result is an incredibly elegant and cheerful nectar perfect to be enjoyed by its own, but also to bless an endless bbq, thank to its acidity and grippy tannins. To be peaky, it lacks of evolution.
