Klin Collio Bianco Riserva 2015 DOC
Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italia
After the charming experience with Ribolla Gialla Riserva Oslavia, it is time to taste another nectar by Primosic. This one is ablend of Chardonnay (30%), Ribolla Gialla (10%), Sauvignon Blanc (30%) and Tocai Friuliano (30%). As written on the producer’s Internet site, the fully matured grapes, manually harvested, are destemmed and and soft pressed. The free-run must is then separated from the press must and put into small wooden barrels of 500-600 litres, where fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts. The “Tumultuous fermentation” phase lasts around 15-20 days until malolactic fermentation is almost complete. The temperature of the small barrels does not rise above 26-28°C. The wine is then transferred, and the Ribolla Gialla part is added to the bulk. 24 months wood ageing follows, then bottled without sterile filtration. The wine is aged in bottle for a further 12 months. Salute!
In the glass the wine has a beautiful golden colour. The intensity is medium. It is clear with no traces of deposits.
The aromas intensity is medium plus. It is a whirling of fragrances: immediately floral hints of acacia and honeysuckle followed by ripe fruits as nectarine, pear, and a light pineapple. Such opulence is balanced by sharping notes of lemon zest and flint. There are also flavours remembering the brioche and the cream, with tertiary hints of hay, honey and ginger.
In the mouth, the wine is dry with a medium plus level of acidity. The alcohol is high (14%). The flavour intensity is pronounced. The wine is actually an explosion of nectarine, pear, melon, passion fruit and pineapple with notes of grass and dill. The notes of flint, west stone and lemon zest give along with the wine acidity gives an incredible sensation of cleanness even though the nectar is so creamy and silky on the palate.
The lasting is long especially for the more mineral notes.
Buono!...Buonissimo!!! It is a kaleidoscope of floral fragrances and ripe fruits, but still incredibly elegant. Definitively it has nothing to envy to a great burgundy. Gorgeous with oysters!
