Brut Premier (in magnum)
Wine Making Techniques
This nectar is a blend of around 40% Pinot noir, 40% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Meunier. 33% of the divine juice come from vins de réserve of 5-7 different vintages stored in large oak casks (between 40 e 96 hl). The wine is aged for 3 years in Louis Roederer’s cellars and left for a minimum of 6 months after dégorgement. Dosage is 9.5g/l. This bottle is based on 2014 grapes, bottled in 2015 and disgorged in 2018. Santé!
In the glass the wine has a beautiful yellow lemon color. The intensity is pale. The pèrlage is very persistent. At the nose, the flavor intensity is medium plus, with springy notes of blossom, acacia, lemon peel, pineapple and melon. The aromatic palette reveals secondary notes of brioche, bread dough and bread crust, but also butter and a cream. The tertiaries aromas remember the almond and dried apricot. These warm notes are perfectly balanced by a fine minerality and a sprinkle of white pepper.
In the mouth, the wine is dry with high level of acidity. The intensity is pronounced, with a tasty savouriness. The texture is creamy and the flavor lasting is medium plus.
Definitively one of my favorite sans années. It is rich, opulent and with a complex aromatic bouquet. To our senses, this nectar reveals floral scents, notes of ripe tropical fruits, almond and dried apricot perfectly balanced by a sharp minerality and spices.
