Sonoma County, USA
It is a 100% Chardonnay from vineyards located in Russian River Valley. This area characterized by very cool and foggy condition is well renowned for elegant and high quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay…. Not always! This wine does the malolactic fermentation as well. Cheers!
In the glass the wine has a gold colour with some green hues. The intensity is medium.
The aromas intensity is medium plus. You can sniff that there something in the glass, but the notes are not really net and clear. There are floral hints of acacia, and flavours of stone fruits, melon, lemon zest and candid citrus. The secondary aroma of vanilla seems overlaying almost everything.
In the mouth, the wine is dry with a medium plus level of acidity. The alcohol is high (i.e. 14%). The flavour intensity is pronounced and quite punchy. But also at the palate the flavours are not well differentiated. There is a fruits salad of melon, banana and nectarine. The secondary aromas remember the vanilla, but also the toast. A weird note that can remember the bitter almond characterizes the sip.
I am not really impressed with this nectar. It has the muscles and does everything to show off them. So we can say that the wine is quite lout and not well mannered at all. It has intensity for sure, but it lack of charm. The vanilla intoxicates the nostrils as only the cheap perfumes can do, and a bitter almond hits the tasting buds. In the glass there are a lot of fruity hints, but they are confusing and not really clear. Nevertheless the feedbacks online are quite enthusiastic.
