Barolo 2015 DOCG

Piemonte, Italia

This nectar is a 100% Nebbiolo. The grapes are harvested in October from different municipalities in the Barolo area, including Castiglione Falletto, Cherasco, Diano d'Alba, Verduno and Grinzane Cavour. The crop ferments macerating for 14-16 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30 ° C. Once the malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine undergoes an aging of 38 months in mixed oak barrels, at least 18 of which in French oak barrels. Salute!

Appearance

The wine has a ruby color with garnet shades. The intensity is medium.

Nose

The aroma intensity is medium. Notes of crunchy red fruits and black pepper dominate the aromatic palette. The secondary aromas remember the charred wood, cloves, and toast.

Palate

In the mouth, the wine is dry with high level of acidity. The tannins are medium plus. The alcohol is high (i.e. 14 %), and it gives a pleasant heatwave. The flavor intensity is pronounced, with hints of red fruits and balsamic herbs. The secondary aromas include charred wood, smoke, toast, vanilla, cloves, toast, dark chocolate and coffee. The tertiaries remember the leather, mushroom and forest floor. The lasting is long.

Conclusion

This Barolo has two sides: the nose is quite reserved and boring; but at the palate, the nectar shows all its skills. The aromatic bouquet it is a blaze of red fruits and secondary aromas, especially charred wood, toast and spices. The wine, thanks to its high acidity and tannins, is a valid option to wash down a carnivorous dinner; but it is not smart enough to trigger your philosophical inclinations.
