Edizione Cinque Autoctoni 19

Abruzzo, Italia

This nectar is a blend of Montepulciano, Primitivo, Negroamaro, Sangiovese, and Malvasia Rossa from the towns of Colonnella, Ortona, Sava and Manduria. The grapes are left to macerate and ferment for 25 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barrique. Then the divine juice ages in wood for 13 month. Salute!

Appearance

The wine has an elegant purple color. The intensity is deep.

Nose

The aroma intensity is pronounced. The primary aromas remember the ripe blackcurrant, fig, raisin, prune, bramble, kirsch, wild fruits jam, black pepper and a refreshing note of mint. The secondary flavors include cedar, vanilla, cinnamon, smoke, charred wood and dark chocolate while the tertiaries are still feeble, just a touch of meat.

Palate

In the mouth, the wine is dry with medium plus level of acidity. The tannins are medium plus. The alcohol is high (i.e. 14,5 %), and it gives a nice heatwave. On the palate, the flavor intensity is pronounced. The aromatic bouquet is the same as we find at the nostrils. The lasting is long.

Conclusion

A very opulent blend including Montepulciano, Primitivo, Negroamaro, Sangiovese, and Malvasia Rossa. The aromatic palette is a cornucopia of ripe blackcurrant, fig, raisin and spices as black pepper, cloves, vanilla and cinnamon. Such richness is perfectly balanced by sharp notes of charred wood, smoke and balsamic scents of mint. The wine shows off all its roundness and generosity already at the first sip, lacking a bit of evolution. It is pure vinous hedonism.
