Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico 2015
This nectar is a blend of Corvina (40%), Corvinone (30%), Rondinella (25%) and Croatina (5%) from vineyards located between 190 and 370m asl. The grapes are manually left in the drying room for about four months. Only at mid-January, they are crushed with the partial de-stemming of the grapes. The fermentation lasts for 50 days in stainless steel tanks, after about 30 days of maceration on the skins. Next, the divine nectar ages in large Slavonian oak barrels for at least 30 months and in bottles for another 3 months. Salute!
The wine has a ruby color with garnet shades. The intensity is medium.
The aroma intensity is medium plus. The aromatic palette is characterized by notes of crunchy red fruits, and spices. The secondary aromas remember the toast and cloves while the tertiaries include leather, tobacco and earth.
In the mouth, the wine is dry with high level of acidity. The tannins are medium plus. The alcohol is high (i.e. 15.5 %), but very gentle. The flavor intensity is pronounced, with hints of red fruits, sour cherry preserved in alcohol, not fully ripe plum and black pepper. The secondary aromas include vanilla, cedar, cloves and toast. The tertiaries remember again the leather, tobacco, dark chocolate and earth. The lasting is long.
A very elegant Amorone characterized by a quite lively and vibrant aromatic bouquet, probably due to the young age. Especially on the palate, it is a triumph of wild red fruits and sharp spices. The tertiary are just starting to develop, but there are already virile notes of leather and tobacco. It works well with food, but also to stimulate the debate after dinner.
