Loire Valley, France
There are few white wines that make me happy and Poully-Fumé is one of them. This nectar comes from the beautiful Loire Valley and is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Sante!
In the glass the wine has a lemon green colour. The intensity is pale.
The aromas intensity is medium, so you need to swirls a bit to open the aromatic bouquet. You can smell a pear and gooseberry. There are also herbaceous aromas and a hint of white pepper. The wet stone and flint sharpness is so teasing. Once the wine temperature increases a bit, the tertiary becomes clearer, especially the hay and a bit of honey.
In the mouth, the wine is dry with a high level of acidity. The alcohol is medium (i.e. 12.5%). The wine is so elegant and refreshing. The flavour intensity and the finish is medium plus.
The wine is really nice, and works perfectly well with shellfish or fish. I enjoyed it while I was eating penne with salmon and pistachio cream. I was in 80s mood. It should work well also with a slow cooked rabbit in butter and sage.
I buy it quite often especially when is on sale. This nectar is an excellent value for money option.
