Cantine Due Palme - Selvamara 2016

Cantine Due Palme

Selvamara 2016

Puglia, Italia

This nectar is a 100% Negroamaro, from the very traditional settonce layout vineyards. The grapes are hand-harvested and dried in the cellar for a couple of months. Then, they are macerated into horizontal rotating vinificators. The wine is aged for 6 months in oak and glass, before release. Salute!

Appearance

The wine has a noble ruby color. The intensity is medium to deep.

Nose

The aroma intensity is medium plus. After swirling a couple of times, succulent note of red cherry and fig come out. The secondary aromas remember the vanilla, a light cloves and a touch of charred wood.

Palate

In the mouth, the wine is dry with medium high level of acidity. The alcohol is medium, i.e. 13.5%. On the palate, the flavor intensity is medium plus. The red fruit is riper, almost towards the jam. This opulence is balanced by vigorous notes of charred wood and black pepper. The tertiaries include the dark chocolate and coffee. The lasting is medium plus with hints of sour cherry lingering for quite some time.

Conclusion

A nice Negroamaro with a lot of red fruits and spices well combined with notes of charred wood, dark chocolate and coffee. The wine has intensity and its aromatic bouquet is balanced, but it lacks of evolution.
