Candido

Cappello di Prete 2016

Puglia, Italia

This nectar is a 100% Negroamaro. The destammed grapes are macerated in stainless steel tanks for several days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine mature in small oak barrels. Salute!

Appearance

The wine has a very noble ruby color. The intensity is medium.

Nose

The aroma intensity is medium plus. The aromatic palette reveals scent of rose, followed by hints of crunchy wild red fruits and black pepper. The barrique aging has developed notes of vanilla, cloves and charred wood. The tertiaries instead include perfumes of leather, dry cranberry, and tobacco.

Palate

In the mouth, the wine is dry with high level of acidity. The alcohol is high (i.e. 14 %), but very gently. The tannins are medium. On the palate, the wine is concentration of red fruits, spices, but also toast and charred wood. The intensity is pronounced and the lasting long.

Conclusion

This Negroamaro in purezza is characterized by an aromatic bouquet not particularly complex, but all the flavors are perfectly combined. The result is an excellent balance, that along with a pronounced intensity, makes each sip very smooth, full and round. One of those bottles that let me always smile.
