Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2018

Tuscany, Italy

I am not a big fun of light wine from Tuscany. Actually I think that the average Tuscan wines are generally overvalued, and we pay an unnecessary premium to have the name of this beautiful region on the bottle. Anyway, I have the opportunity to drink this wine, and I have to say that it is an honest one. It is nothing memorable, but an easy and enjoyable company. This nectar is 100% Sangiovese, macerated 12/15 on its skin in stainless steel vessels. Then the wine is left to age in concrete vessels for 6 months and other 3 months of bottle ageing.

In the glass the wine has a ruby colour. The intensity is medium.

The aromas intensity is medium. It is a concentrate of red cherry and plums, with a hint of pepper.

In the mouth, the wine is dry with a high level of acidity. The alcohol is medium (i.e. 13%). The tannins are medium plus leaving a nice astringent sensation on the palate.

Too simple. It is not worth the cost.
