I strongly believe that wine tasting is something absolutely subjective. What is intense for a person may be just mild for another. Sniffing into the glass can give a plethora of sensations to somebody, but at the same time can mean totally nothing to the person sitting in front of us. During the WSET courses, I have realized as people smell different kinds of fruits or aromas, have different sensibility to the wine acidity or the flavour lasting on the palate. So take it easy. Drinking wine is pure pleasure and joy. If you cannot smell or taste anything of what I have written or your friend says, don't bother too much. My only suggestion is to be curious, and don't be afraid or lazy to try something new. The wine universe has really no borders, if not those of your imagination.
You find the score at the end of each review. It is just an indication of the quality and the tastiness of the nectar. No rocket science behind, just my impressions.
The scoring system is similar to those ones that you find on the main magazine.
95-97: Magnificent. It's almost a shame if you have to share a bottle with somebody else.
90-94: You have to try this wine. Don’t even think twice about buying it or not
86-89: The wine is without praise o blame. It is well made, but probably a bit boring. Definitively it will not kill you, but it is just a safe option.
80-85: Don’t waste you money. Try something else. Better to take some risk with the unknown, than having the certainty to go wrong.
Below 80: Whatever your sin, you do not deserve this punishment. God help you!
